About Gladiator

Gladiator is one of Playtech’s most loved online slot machine games. It is, of course, based on the 2000 movie of the same name, which starred Russel Crowe as loyal soldier turned gladiator, Maximus. All your favourite characters including Commodus, Lucila, Proximo, Juba, and Senator Gracchus are present on the reels of the slot, save for Maximus. Apparently, there were some imaging rights concerning Russell Crowe. This is an issue which doesn’t have too much impact on the game, though, as Maximus is instead represented by his helmet. Gladiator is played over 5 reels and 25 lines, and players can alter all those lines as they see fit. They can also choose to alter the value of their coins, and the number of coins they stake per line. Expect to find minimum wagers of just 0.01 per line per spin, and maximum stakes of a hefty 1,250.00 per spin on this slot.

Special Features

The helmet acts as a wild symbol in this slot machine game, and if players land it on the reels, it can substitute for all other symbols except scatters. Maximus’ helmet also triggers the Gladiator Bonus if it is located on the second, third, and fourth reels at the same time.

Gladiator’s scatter icon is the Roman Coliseum. This symbol is capable of appearing on all 5 reels of the slot, and players can pocket scattered wins worth 1x, 4x, 20x, or 100x their total bet for bagging 2, 3, 4, or 5 respective symbols. Land 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels to trigger a free spins bonus. In that Coliseum Bonus, players can move along various rows to pocket a number of free games, win multipliers, extra scatters, and extra wilds. During the free spins bonus, itself, every time Commodus appears on the third reel, 3 extra free spins are awarded to the player’s tally.

Bonus Feature

As for the Gladiator Bonus, this feature allows players to choose from 9 helmets on the screen. Players will find that helmets are either bronze, silver, or gold in nature, with cash prizes hiding behind each helmet, and rising accordingly.

There is jackpot version of this game, simply known as Gladiator Jackpot. Unlike the non-progressive version which offers decent cash wins in the Gladiator Bonus, the progressive jackpot version can see players potentially win a prize worth upwards of millions of pounds if they match golden helmets in the Gladiator Bonus. Given the choice between the two of them, most players prefer the progressive version of this top-notch Playtech developed slot.
